Maybe one of my favorite painting is "Compassion."
I was inspired by the concept of compassion. In The Essence of the Heart Sutra, His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote, "According to Buddhism, compassion is an aspiration, a state of mind, wanting others to be free from suffering. It's not passive - it's not empathy alone- but rather an empathetic altruism that actively strives to free others from suffering. Genuine compassion must have both wisdom and lovingkindness..."
The black color of the Buddha's face and the calligraphy makes a sharp contrast over the vivid yellow on the background.
Also, the Buddha's face is displayed not in the center of the canvas but to one side of it, allowing the spectator to be able to appreciate the painting beyond the border of the canvas.
This painting is an exquisite minimalist combination of color, balance and meaningful calligraphy.
It's a work of art that creates a big statement in any room.
